In the name of Allah most gracious most merciful
(185. Every soul shall have a taste of death: And only on the Day of Judgment shall you be paid your full recompense. Only he who is saved far from the Fire and admitted to the Garden will have attained the object (of Life): For the life of this world is but goods and chattels of deception.)
Surah 3. Al 'Imran
Yesterday, Doctor Mostafa Mahmoud, after a fierce and long battle with his illness, was chosen to meet his creator, Allah Almighty.
I ask myself if I should be sad, the inherited ideas of our society imply that we should weep whoever passes, especially those we cherish and love. But as a devoted reader of Dr. Mustafa Mahmoud's work, I know that he ,and I, believed that death is but the end of the first part of our journey, and that only by death that our souls are freed to pursue its ultimate goal and achieve its true rank.
So I think It's appropriate if I pray for him rather than cry. And honor his memory by trying to become a better human being and a more devoted Muslim, as he has always wished us, Muslim youth, to be.
My only sadness is how he and his death are being ignored by the media.
